G. L. Ramesh Kumar a renowned Flutist, hails from a musically inclined family from a small village in Shimoga District. He is the third son of Sri Lakshman Rao and Smt. Mahalakshmi. His mother, a veena player and vocalist, was his first inspiration, introducing him to devotional music during his childhood.
G L Ramesh kumar undertook rigorous training in Carnatic classical flute playing under the guidance of renowned musicians Vidwan Sri Muralidhar and Vidwan Sri V. Deshikachar in Mysore, for a period of about ten years.
Over the years, he has performed across a wide range of genres including classical, Bharatanatyam, light music, film music, and fusion concerts. A dedicated learner, he also pursued Hindustani flute music under Pandit Sri Venkatesh Godkhindi and currently continues his training under Pandit Praveen Godkhindi. Parallelly, he continues his study of Carnatic music under Vidwan H. S. Venugopal.
Sri Ramesh Kumar has been featured in numerous programs on Doordarshan and private television channels, earning acclaim for his artistry. He has performed extensively across India and abroad, enchanting audiences in Muscat, Bahrain, Singapore, and Sydney, Australia.
To further spread his passion for music, he founded "Shri Sangeetha Vidyalaya" in Srinagar, Bengaluru, where he imparts flute training to aspiring students. Recognizing his outstanding contributions to the field of music, the prestigious “Kalayogi Pratishthana” in Bengaluru honored him with the title "Kalayogi" in 2024.

The musical journey

During the year 1986 started musical career as an accompanying artist with well known Bharatanatyam dancers of the state.

Since the year 1996, performing as a flautist with stalwarts like Sri C Aswath, Sri Shimoga Subbanna, Sri Puttur Narasimha Nayak, Smt Ratnamala Prakash, Sri Raju Ananthaswamy, Smt M D Pallavi and has performed in their Music concerts across the country.

Also, has rendered musical support on flute to Swamy Sri Sukhabodananda, popularly known as Management Guru, during his discourses on Bhagadvad Geeta at various places across India.
